Parent UI Redesign

Parent UI Redesign

Zywa parents were limited to sending money and setting allowances or challenges for their kids. We realized we were overlooking them as a key user group by not offering tailored features to make the app more valuable for them.

Thus, the parent-side redesign focused on making parents feel confident and connected. By adding trust-building UI updates and an Insights feature to track spending habits, we gave parents the tools they needed to stay informed without overstepping their child's independence. This thoughtful approach led to a 34% boost in parent registrations within one month.

—— PROJECT OVERVIEW ——

—— PROJECT OVERVIEW ——

One of the most recurring queries we received from our customer support by our teen users was - 'How do I convince my parents to get me a zywa card?'

This highlighted a key challenge: earning parents' trust was essential for the app’s growth and adoption. As primary decision-makers in their children’s financial journeys, parents needed a seamless and trustworthy experience that addressed their concerns. To meet this need, we completely revamped the parent-facing app, striking the right balance between oversight and the child’s independence.

—— THE PROBLEM ——

Parents expressed two major concerns:

  • Trust Issues: They needed reassurance about the app's reliability and its ability to help their children manage money responsibly.

  • Lack of Tailored Features: Parents wanted visibility into their child's financial activities but without micromanaging their spending.

Additionally, we recognized that addressing these concerns was essential for improving user retention and acquiring new users through parental advocacy.

—— BUSINESS STRATEGY ——

—— BUSINESS STRATEGY ——

From a strategy perspective, we realised that while we can build parent's trust in our service with minor UI changes, another way to gain their trust is to provide them more value from our app. Initially, the parent's side of the app only provided them the functionality to transfer allowances and set chores-based rewards.

We needed to provide parent-centric features that would level up parents as a parallel primary users instead of secondary users.

REDESIGNING ONBOARDING

Our user analytics and customer support insights revealed that many parent users struggled to understand how Zywa works and its benefits for their child.

To address this, we redesigned the onboarding process to directly address parents' primary concerns, creating a clearer and more reassuring introduction to Zywa's value.

CHILD SPENDING INSIGHTS

Building on existing features like allowances, challenges, and goals, we introduced an integrated overview that provides parents with a bird's-eye view of their child's activity. This comprehensive dashboard ensures parents stay informed while maintaining a streamlined and user-friendly experience.

We introduced a dashboard to provide parents with a clear overview of their child's spending habits. While preserving the child's anonymity for individual transactions, the feature offers parents insights through categorized spending summaries, striking a balance between oversight and the child's independence.
